Since 1997, the Centre has been home to the valuable National Photographic Collection, with pictures dating back to the early years of photography, to which the António Pedro Vicente Camera Collection, on permanent exhibition on the top floor, was added. The CPF also holds photographic exhibitions with free admission. A visit to the Centre for its history is also worthwhile, since it was once the municipal prison.
